Ma’am, what inspired you to begin your yoga journey, and how has it shaped your work, purpose, and vision today?

YOGA is an invaluable gift of our cultural heritage from India to the global community. It has woven itself into the fabric of modern life, transcending its ancient origins. Rather than just becoming popular or adopting it globally, it is now being a necessity for life. It has transcended religious, ethnic and national boundaries by uniting millions across the world in pursuit of health, harmony and inner peace.
I have traveled to 14 different countries and have seen how open, receptive and fondly Yoga has been adopted across the globe.
This International Yoga Day (IYD 2026) saw 13 lacs Yoga events across the country uniting 300 million people worldwide.
The growing global adoption of Yoga is more than a wellness trend – it’s a movement towards conscious living. Yoga is been embraced not just as a form of exercise, but as a holistic path to health, inner peace and unity. Yoga truly exemplifies the spirit of “One Earth, One Health”.

Aparna ji, you’ve evolved from being a yoga teacher offering live and personal sessions to building a structured yoga philosophy and teaching style that people instantly associate with TwoM Aparna. At what point did you realise that your lived experience, techniques, and approach to yoga needed to be transformed into a repeatable method or intellectual property to grow beyond your physical presence?

Yoga has become one of India’s most powerful cultural exports, serving as a prime example of soft power—the ability to influence global behavior through attraction rather than coercion. It positions India as a global leader in holistic wellness and strengthens its cultural ties across continents. Through Yoga, India has been sharing a universal philosophy that fosters harmony, compassion and unity.

By offering this timeless practice that benefits humanity, Yoga has become a bridge connecting nations and reinforcing India’s roles as a leader in wellness and sustainable living. Combining Yoga with its sister concern – Ayurveda, its a complete holistic package for every individual.

In a digital world where visibility often depends on ever-changing algorithms, you’ve built a practice that feels rooted and sustainable. Could you walk us through your current monetisation mix—how much of your work today is driven by owned platforms like courses, workshops, or certifications versus rented platforms like Instagram? How important has independence from platforms been to your long-term growth?

AS Yoga continues to gain global popularity, preserving its authenticity becomes increasingly important. The essence needs to be intact and it means shifting the focus from physical asanas to overall holistic well-being, this means integrating the Asthanga (7 limbs of Yoga) in the entire Yoga practice. The respect for Yoga’s cultural heritage should be encouraged while embracing its universal relevance.

As Yoga reaches every corner of the world, let us ensure that its soul too travels with it. Including all the aspects of Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dhyana and then moving towards Samadhi should be the foundation of Yoga’s global future.

Transitioning from being a solo yoga practitioner to running programs, retreats, and possibly a team requires a completely different mindset. What was the most challenging shift for you—from being the face on the mat to becoming the operator behind the system that supports your yoga ecosystem?

Influence is not about being the loudest voice in the room – it is about creating meaningful and long term impact. As a Yoga Therapist and Wellness Coach, I have learned that true influence begins with authenticity. When you lead with purpose, serve with compassion and stay consistent with your values, trust surely follows you. My journey has also shown me that purpose-driven influence is not measured just by followers – it is measured by the lives I touch, the confidence that I create in others and the positive changes that they see in themselves. True influences is not about being just seen, it is about making others feel seen, happy and empowered too.
