The men around us are not destitute of a single day for us to appreciate them.

But, as we have an International Men’s day, let’s take a moment to appreciate their presence in our lives. It is a simple day to say Thank You to all the men who are working to make our lives and our world a better place.

But are we actually giving it justice? International men’s day is not only about simply appreciating their existence, rather it is about highlighting and getting closer to their thinking, system of tackling issues. This day gives us a chance to unfollow the issue that leads them down and the stereotypes that we have formed over the years about the masculine gender.

  • 12 men each take their lives.
  • 7 out of 10 murder victims are men.
  • According to studies, men take longer than others to seek medical help.
  • Suicide kills more men under 50 than anything else.

The pervasive expectation for men to “man up” or “be strong” when they express their emotions can be detrimental. It discourages open dialogue about their concerns, and this repression can eventually lead to emotional burdens and mental health issues. We must remember that men are fully capable of experiencing a wide range of emotions. Society has taught them to bottle up their feelings, and when this pressure becomes too great, it can lead to drastic consequences.

International Men’s Day is a day for men to feel empowered to discuss their mental health, their needs, and their desires without the fear of being judged as less masculine. It encourages them to break free from the societal constraints that inhibit open and honest communication.

The focus of this day has always been for them to talk about their mental health, their needs and wants and making them overcome the inherent masculine reluctance which forbids them to talk.

From this day forward, let’s focus on beautifying our approach towards men around us, being full of empathy, understanding, and support towards them.

Lets make each day a little easier for our champions and unsung heroes by freeing them from toxic masculinity and stereotypes and by encouraging them to be their authentic selves. Men around us bring such a positive influence in our lives by doing so, we contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate world where men, like everyone else, can openly express their emotions and address their mental health without stigma or fear and by doing that we will get to keep our favorites a little closer and a little longer
